Spink County Coalition to put five new grants to use in the community
(Cassie Metzinger, Youth Prevention Coordinator; LeAnn Wasmoen, Coalition
Executive Director; Chessa Quenzer, Community Coordinator and
Tim Reinbold, Program Development Coordinator)
by Shiloh Appel
On Monday, November 18th, the Spink County Coalition met at noon at Leo’s Good Food to discuss the five grants that they have received to better serve the community. ( SEE MORE )
The Coalition filmed a Reality Party Video, where the students held a mock party to show the dangers of underage drinking. The purpose of this video is to educate PARENTS, to show how dangerous parties can really be, NOT a how-to.
This public service announcement was produced for South Dakota's Parents Matter, "Have the Talk" campaign, which encourages parents to talk to their kids about underage drinking.
The Spink County Coalition operates under a Partnership Grant through the Department of Social Services. With these monies several programs are funded:
PROJECT SUCCESS: Project SUCCESS is designed to prevent and reduce substance use and abuse among adolescents and high school students. See more
COALITION CAPACITY: The Coalition seeks new partners to be representative of Spink County including parents, youth, business owners, law enforcement, school personnel, and the faith community.
If you are interested in finding out more about any one of these programs, please call Le Ann Wasmoen, Executive Director at 450-1385.
